NAVAJO’s: Scott’s Fave and Here’s Why…

NAVAJO’s: Scott’s Fave and Here’s Why…

Scott and I tend to differ on which area rugs we like to buy for our shop and even our home. I have a tendency to lean more towards aesthetically pleasing rugs. I’m drawn to certain colors and styles that may be relevant in today’s homes. Scott looks beyond the surface and sees the rug for what it truly is. He is drawn to weaving styles, knot counts, old historical or regional origins and fiber quality. However, he is no rug snob! He sees the value and relevancy of every rug that comes in our shop for cleaning. That being said, he has a very favorite and that is the Navajo rugs. If you ask him, he will tell you that Navajo’s are his favorite and list the many reasons as to why. Much of this is because he is a 5th generation Arizona Native and it just comes with the territory. Even more so than that is the history they contain and the stories they tell. Small but mighty, they are mostly small in size yet hold the highest dollar value per square foot compared to other rug types. When he finds a Navajo rug with a “storm pattern”, an “eye dazzler” or a real “Chief blanket” he is drawn to it and truly appreciates the culture which inspires such weaving. His love affair with Navajo rugs runs deep, is fun to watch, and is still building. If you visit our home or Rug Worx shop you will likely walk in the door and be greeted by a Navajo rug on the wall. This is our idea of a warm welcome.
